Russell Dean

Russell Dean serves as the Associate Director for External Relations at Rice University, as well as the General Manager for Rice Sports Properties.

Dean oversees the marketing, sports information and ticket offices as well as game operations and the media rights relationship with IMG College. He also handles the licensing program for the entire University.

Dean joined the Rice staff after spending three years as an Assistant Athletics Director for Sales and Ticketing at the University of Arizona.

During his tenure at Arizona, Dean oversaw the corporate sales program which totaled more than $3 million per year. He was also in charge of the ticket office and a ticket sales program that produced more than $9 million in ticket revenue.

Prior to working at Arizona, Dean served as an Assistant Athletics Director at Tulane (1999-2003), handling sales and marketing. At Tulane, he was the primary solicitor of all corporate sponsorships from 1999 through 2001, and he set records of all corporate sponsorships during the 1999-00 and 2000-01 fiscal years. Dean also created ticket policies and campaigns for all sports including post-season events and oversaw the increase of football season ticket sales by 100 percent between the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

During a two-year stint at the University of Houston (1997-98), Dean designed and implemented marketing plans for football, men's and women's basketball, women's soccer and baseball while assisting with "Sellout `97" where more than 50,000 tickets were sold for the football season opener. Before coming to Houston, Dean was a Marketing Assistant at Arizona (1995-96).

Dean graduate from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sociology in 1992. He received his Master's Degree in Sports Administration from UConn in 1996 while working as a graduate assistant in UConn's athletic marketing department.
